…..how about the silverware?
If you haven’t used mom’s special silverware in some time it might be a good time to give it a polish. Here are a few suggestions for a bright new look. Start by laying a towel on a flat surface and placing the items on the towel. Now using a soft clean cloth, maybe a piece of flannel or even an old t-shirt. Mix a little baking soda in warm water, put a small amount on the cloth, and gently rub the paste onto the silver in a circular motion. On flatware rub in a lengthwise motion. Many times silverware will have ornate details if so consider using a soft toothbrush to reach the nooks and crannies. Be gentle and remember some of those ornate designs are there to enhance the appearance of the silverware so don’t rub too hard. If you are wearing gloves use only white cotton gloves. (Preferably) Other types can cause tarnish. Now rinse the items thoroughly removing all paste and dry. If left wet it can cause the silver to tarnish again. One more thing to consider. Use the silverware often. Life is to short, and why not enjoy these beautiful items. Mom would probably appreciate it.
